A Maryland jury convicted Brandon Ross Holbrook, 49, of the murder of Joseph Shymanski following an eight-day trail, the Calvert County State Attorney's Office said.
CALVERT COUNTY, Md. — A Mifflin County man has been convicted of the murder of a Washington, D.C. photographer in 2023.
According to the Calvert County State Attorney's Office, a jury in Calvert County, Maryland convicted 49-year-old Brandon Ross Holbrook of murdering Joseph Shymanski after an eight-day trial.
The State Attorney's Office said that Shymanski was shot by Holbrook in the driveway of his home on Sept. 3, 2023. Authorities said Holbrook brought the body back to his home in Reedsville, where he dismembered and burned it.
Holbrook's sentencing is scheduled for July 18, 2025. Authorities in Maryland are seeking life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
Maryland Assistant State's Attorneys Benjamin G. Lerner and Christopher J. Monte prosecuted the case.
